●    Representatives from the state attended to review the role and purpose of SIC and provided various handouts to aid the development of FHES bylaws.

-Establish SIC Meeting Schedule for 2025-2026 School Year: (Principal Gritz) 
●    The meeting schedule was established as follows:
○    November 12, December 10, January 4, February 11, March 11, and April 15
 
Preview of Year One SIC Activities: (Principal Gritz)
●    adoption of SIC bylaws
●     expected timeline for required SIC activities
●    identifying specific SIC areas of interest/activities

•    Veterans day parade and breakfast celebrations
•    Community building, bringing grandparents
•    Successful Book fair
•    Swim program for 2nd graders in YMCA (4 days, 45 mins duration swim class)
•    Upcoming holiday break in December
•    Spirit Week (12/15 - 12/19)
•    Community Dress up day
•    Grade level ticket collections - Winning class awarded movie night
•    Successful Silent Auction (Mrs. Gritz will update more)
•    Going good with monthly newsletter, alongwith the communication with text messages
•    Help may be needed for movie night, PTO will inform
•    Help needed for Christmas tree, Wish list, Donations
•    Gift card for 106 school staff members
•    Angel tree projects ownership
•    11/19 - Planned cultural day

-Principal Update: (Principal Gritz)
●     Programs update
1.    Related arts clubs will begin in the spring, including a variety of activities for grades third through fifth. Details to be determined.
2.     PTO is hosting a movie and PJ Day on Thursday, including popcorn
 
●    Fox Trot update
1.    The fundraiser will be run by school staff and the PTO, and not the boosterthon. The fundraiser will be held in March, exact dates TBD. The Principal has requested SIC to provide assistance with activities if possible.
 
●    Committee and Initiative Updates
1.     Fort Mill Care Center (1st-12th)
a.    The subcommittee contacted the Fort Mill care center to determine needs, developed a flyer, and initiated this fundraising event
2.    Holiday Decorations
a.    Holiday decorations were collected through alternative resources, and this collection was no longer needed
3.     Gift cards for teachers
a.    A member of the SIC team purchased gift cards for the entire staff of FHES, co-chairs, and Brent will pass out the cards before the break
4.     Support from the community
a.    Members from a local church who are members of the FHES SIC are collecting money to purchase books for ESL students, and would like to provide holiday cards
5.     Snack shack-on hold till 2026

-Principal Update (Principal Gritz)
●    Programs update
1.    The Foxtrot fundraiser will be run by the PTO and school staff. Principal Gritz requested SIC members to assist and attend the kickoff. Parents will receive details regarding the foxtrot in February.  Dates for the foxtrot include a March 10 kickoff with groups K through two, and then groups three through five with the fun run on March 19 at the MS sports field.  The goal of this fundraiser is to raise $50,000.
2.    Clubs for Cubs is starting for fourth and fifth-grade parents received details and a sign-up form
3.    The 100th day of school is January 29. Each grade level has chosen how to celebrate
4.     The school climate survey is coming out soon-encourage participation
 
-Establish by-laws for Flint Hill Elementary SIC
●     SIC reviewed a template of recommended bylaws provided by the state department and made revisions.  
 
-Committee and Initiative Updates
●      Support from the community
a.     $600 was raised to purchase books for the ESL students. Principal Gritz will work with teachers and our community members to purchase and distribute the books
b.     Snack shack (was placed on hold till 2026)
c.    Ashley Porter (school counselor at FHES) attended the meeting to discuss the idea of supporting the snack shack, which is supported by local contributions, and a collection was not warranted at this time.  Ashley did provide a review of the areas of need at this time.

1.    Fox Trot update
a.    Parents will receive detailed information about the Fox Trot after the break
b.    March 10 is the kickoff ceremony, goal to raise $50,000 for books, a mural, and instruments
c.    March 19 is the run; there will be a closing ceremony/activity date TBD
 
-Review and vote on bylaws
●     Reviewed the edits/additions to the bylaws, and they were approved unanimously
 
-Community member updates
●     Books were ordered – each student will receive four books

 -Principal Update: (Principal Gritz)
●      Program/clubs update
1.    Clubs started the spring semester and are going well. Plan to provide clubs again in the fall; let me run and girls on the run or options, but need coaches-let me run and girls on the run were not offered in the spring semester due to lack of coaching.
●    Fox Trot update
1.    Foxtrot was moved to April 24th. If parents are attending, they are asked to park in designated areas to help with parking/traffic flow. This information will be conveyed to families prior to the event: spirit, week activities during the foxtrot, SSC members are encouraged to attend the kickoff ceremony if possible
 
●    Activities coming up include a book fair, field trips, and Fox Trot
●    April 27 through May 1 is Teacher Appreciation Week
●    State testing will be the first two weeks of May
●     Field day is being planned, with dates to be determined
 
-SMS SIC Update: Mr. Mack (SMS 6th grade Asst Principal)
        Twin Lakes Neighborhood Fiesta: Joanne Walker (SMS SIC Chair)
1.    Joanne Walker attended the meeting to review the program that is provided and organized by Springfield Middle School. This program provides a fun activity and cookout at the Twin Lakes neighborhood.  Staff of Springfield Middle School attend this event to develop a relationship with families.  Staff reviews free and reduced lunch applications as well as important school dates for upcoming state testing.  This program was completed last year with excellent success, noting increased applications for free and reduced lunch, which allows the school to better support students and increase attendance rate on test dates.  Joanne encourages staff and members of the SIC committee at FHES to attend. Elementary School will be attending as well as several committee members.
